NDIS Frequently Asked Questions 

Eligibility for NDIS physiotherapy funding in Australia is determined by several criteria set by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). To be eligible, an individual must meet the following conditions: 

  • Have a permanent or significant disability that affects mobility, strength, or physical functioning
  • Aged between 0 and 65 years old 
  • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa 
  • Have a permanent and significant disability that substantially impacts their ability to perform everyday
    activities
  • Require support from the NDIS to reduce the impact of their disability and to help them participate in the
    community and achieve their goals

The NDIS covers a wide range of physiotherapy services tailored to support individuals with disabilities and help improve physical function, manage pain, increase mobility, and enhance their overall quality of life. Services may include:

Our NDIS physiotherapy sessions are highly individualised, focusing on the participant’s unique needs and goals to promote better health, increased independence, and enhanced quality of life. 
 
Through an evidence-based approach, participants can expect: 

1. A detailed assessment of their current pain and challenges, and discussions about their short-term and long-
term goals 

2. Assessments to monitor their current physical condition, including range of motion, strength, balance, and
mobility and evaluating how they perform specific daily activities to identify areas that need improvement 

3. Therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, pain management strategies or
practicing tasks that are important for daily living, such as transfers, climbing stairs, or using mobility
aids 

4. Self-management techniques they can do at home 

5. Outlining a personalised treatment plan for upcoming sessions, setting new goals and working with family,
caregivers or support people to ensure their needs and expectations are met
