Hi, I'm Marieke Bakker

Marieke holds a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) from Hanze University Groningen and a Master of Human Movement Sciences from the University of Groningen, both in the Netherlands. Wanting to pair her academic knowledge with hands-on clinical skills, she moved into practice and has spent more than 10 years working in hospital and private settings ever since, building experience in post-operative rehabilitation, particularly for joint replacements and orthopedic surgery.

While she helps manage a broad range of conditions, Marieke has a growing special interest in pelvic health, an area she’s currently working towards a graduate certificate in.

“[Pelvic health] is still developing and not many people are aware of the services available to them and what a positive impact it can have on their lives.”

Driven by the human side of physiotherapy, Marieke loves working alongside people on their recovery journey and helping them regain independence, move with less pain and get back to doing what they love.

Outside the clinic, Marieke practices what she preaches when it comes to staying active. She’s completed sprint-distance triathlons and the Busselton 50, alongside windsurfing and bushwalking whenever she gets the chance.
